Pro Makeup Tips for Radiant, Mature Skin
Would you like to look polished from head to toe in beautiful makeup to complement your outfits? This month we invited local Makeup Artist, Nicola of Strawberry Blonde Makeup to share some mature-skin friendly makeup tips.

Less is often more when applying makeup to mature skin. Think light, glowy textures to add radiance and long-lasting products that you can apply and get on with your day. Here are five pro tips for a fresh, sophisticated look.

Hydrating Skin Prep
What lies beneath your makeup affects how it performs. A few quick steps can help create a smooth base for makeup to sit beautifully on your skin… a light hydrating serum, moisturiser, and sunscreen are key. In Summer, you might even find that your SPF can replace your moisturiser, especially if you have combination or oily skin. Try a primer in your T-zone after SPF if needed.
Pro tip: Let your skincare settle for 5-10 minutes before applying makeup to avoid pilling and disappearing makeup. Save richer creams, oils and active ingredients for your evening routine.

A Lighter Base
A lightweight, radiant foundation or tinted moisturiser with a dewy finish is the most flattering on mature skin, while heavier, high coverage formulas can accentuate texture.
Try: Lisa Eldridge Skin Tint, Sculpted by Aimee Second Skin Dewy or Chanel Les Beiges Water Fresh Complexion Touch

Embrace Cream Formulas
Most complexion products are now available in cream or liquid formulas for a flattering skin-like finish. Cream blush, eyeshadow and highlighter blend easily for a natural, youthful glow without caking.
Try: Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge & Charlotte Tilbury Glow Bronzer

Enhance your Eyes
Our features often lose definition with age – particularly around the eyes and lips – which makeup can instantly replace. Choose an eyeshadow shade to complement your eyes and line in brown, bronze or grey, blending softly with a matching shadow or bronzing powder. Eye shadow sticks are quick and easy to use for a one and done look. Brush a tinted gel through brows for a polished look and fill in any gaps with a pencil in fine, feather like strokes.
Pro tip: Taking time to curl your lashes & apply a couple of coats of mascara will enhance and brighten your eyes.

Glossy Lips
Focusing on your cupid’s bow, line lips to avoid feathering and help your lipstick last longer. Add a creamy lipstick in your favourite shade and enjoy experimenting with colour! A light, slightly sheer texture is more flattering and comfortable than a matte finish.
Pro tip: a touch of hydrating lip oil or gloss in the centre of your lower lip gives a fuller look.

Have fun with makeup and enjoy using it to enhance your best features… if it doesn’t work out, just wash it off and start again! Focus on hydration, light textures and soft definition for a polished and effortlessly elegant look.
